At North Valley Friends, our hope and purpose for the children who worship with us is that they:
Develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Understand the Bible.
Connect and build relationships with adults.
Build community with their peers and others in the larger NVFC community.
Create a lifestyle of involvement in church, community, service, and ministry.
Flourish in a place that welcomes their inquiry, curiosity, and expression.
Have meaningful experiences.
Sunday morning children's programs
Children ages 2-3 gather for a time of worship tht includes Bible stories, singing, prayer, crafts/activities, and a small snack.
Children ages 4 - 3rd grade gather for intentional worship. One teacher welcomes them as they arrive in the gathering room to transition to a time of worship. Then they're dismissed to the Sunday school room, where a second teacher, the Storyteller, meets them. As they sit together in a circle, they hear a story from the Bible or about a Quaker whose life shows the life of Christ, "wonder" together about the story ("What did Jesus mean when ___?" "What does this mean for us?"), and pray. The children also have time to listen to what Christ may be speaking to them as they work on crafts or play with Bible story boxes.
Kids in the 4th and 5th grades worship together, listen to Bible stories, and respond with prayer, reading and writing, and hands-on activities.
