Missions Update

Andrew & Kim Stave, staff of Lithuania Christian College, are Friends Serving Abroad for Northwest Yearly Meeting. A third child recently entered their family: Greta was born October 6 and is doing well.

Johan & Judy Maurer are Northwest Yearly Meeting Friends Serving Abroad. Among other things, they teach English at the New Humanities Institute and practice hospitality. They are awaiting work visas which will enable them to work in Russia uninterrupted for a full year.

We recently had the opportunity to talk with the Neifert family via Skype during the morning worship service. Patrick and Christy and their children live and work in Haifa, Israel with Cross Media Ministries, broadcasting the hope and joy that comes through faith in Jesus Christ to the Arab world, mostly through internet radio and television. They are sent out as Friends Serving Abroad from the Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends Churches. One of their biggest prayer needs right now is the need for broader financial support for their ministry to continue. Please consider whether God is leading your family to begin (or to increase) monthly support of the Neifert family. Even little amounts go a long way as we join together.

Missionaries

Sometimes the best way to touch the world is through someone else’s hands. We are honored and grateful to touch the world through the hands of our missionaries:

Kim and Andrew Staves, Lithuania

Kim & Andrew StavesKim and Andrew met during intramural volleyball at George Fox University-though the romance did not begin until a few years later. In 2002, two years after they married, they sold nearly everything they owned and moved to Lithuania to volunteer in the Student Life Department at LCC International University. In 2005, their daughter, Ieva Kirstine, was born. Baby brother Isak Andrius joined the family June 4, 2009.

Hal & Nancy Thomas

Hal & Nancy ThomasHal and Nancy are missionaries under Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends, but currently on loan to an innovative interdenominational program for theological formation in Latin America.

Known as PRODOLA (literally “Latin American Doctoral Program”), it offers intensive seminars in different cities in Central and South America, with students doing pre- and post-class work over the Internet. That means Hal and Nancy travel a lot from their current primary residence in Newberg, Oregon.

In addition to administrative tasks, Nancy teaches the seminar “Culture, Spirituality, and Mission.” The exploration and integration of these three themes lies at the heart her other love: writing.
